Micro-Concrete Roofing
Tiles
Micro Concrete Roofing (MCR) tiles technology has been
in use since 1980. The technology involves vibrating a cement/sand
mix resulting in a compacted, thin (8-10mm) concrete section tile.
Colouring is option and different coloured oxides can be use. These
tiles are lighter than conventional clay and concrete tile, saving
on roofing structure by as much as 20%. 1 bag of cement produces
80tiles equivalent to 6square metres of roofing.
Making and Roofing with MCR Tiles
Why use MCR Tiles?
- Can be made on site, saving on transport and other overheads.
- Light weight, requiring a lighter roof structure.
- Durable than gauge 30 iron sheets.
- Technology suitable for establishing small production factories
in rural set up.
- Can collect drinking water.
COMAC provides both the equipment and training required in setting
up MCR tile making plants. The technology is ideal for starting
a small manufacturing plant employing up to five people.
